The host (ZJUT)

ZJUT is the first university in China’s eastern coastal region jointly supported by the provincial and national ministries. It is a lead institution of the national “Collaborative Innovation Center” under the “Higher Education Innovation Capacity Enhancement Plan (2011 Plan)”, and is among the first batch of key provincial higher education institutions and high-level university construction units in Zhejiang. Founded in 1953, ZJUT traces its origins back to the Zhejiang Secondary Industrial School established in 1910, and has undergone several phases of development including Hangzhou Chemical Industry School, Zhejiang Chemical Industry College, and Zhejiang Institute of Technology, before being renamed Zhejiang University of Technology in 1993.

Adhering to the motto “Virtue and Action”, the university carries forward the tradition of “Hard Work, Pioneering Innovation, and Striving for Excellence”, guided by the mission of “Rooted in Zhejiang, Serving the Region, Reaching the Nation, and Engaging with the World”. This has shaped its distinctive educational character of “Running the University with the Zhejiang Spirit and Interacting with Regional Development”. ZJUT currently operates three campuses—Zhaohui, Pingfeng, and Moganshan—covering an area of 3,334 mu and comprising 29 academic units. Its disciplines span 12 fields, including 16 first-level doctoral degree programs and 5 professional doctoral degree categories. Twelve disciplines, including Chemistry, Engineering, Materials Science, and Environmental Science & Ecology, rank within the top 1% globally by ESI, with Chemistry and Engineering among the top 1‰.

ZJUT is committed to organized research, achieving significant breakthroughs in green chemical engineering, biopharmaceuticals, advanced manufacturing, new energy, new materials, information technology, and related fields. Since 2024, it has won one National Science and Technology Progress Award (First Class), participated in the establishment of two national key laboratories. The university has established partnerships with over 180 overseas institutions across 35 countries, actively promoting international collaboration in research and education.
